NAPERVILLE — State Senator Laura Ellman announced the 21st Senate District is set to receive over $20.45 million for improvements to local roads and bridges as part of the state’s ongoing multi-year construction plan.

“Investing in road infrastructure is investing in the future of our communities,” said Ellman (D-Naperville). “It’s not just about paving streets — it’s about paving the way for progress in every neighborhood.”

The largest multi-year program to build and repair infrastructure in state history will invest $50.6 billion over six years, continuing an unprecedented investment in safety, mobility and quality of life made possible by the bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital program. IDOT’s new multi-year program is both comprehensive and multimodal, with investments in roads and bridges, aviation, transit, freight and passenger rail, waterways, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations touching every Illinois county.

As part of IDOT’s latest Multi-Year Plan under Rebuild Illinois, the district Ellman represents will see seven infrastructure projects totaling more than $20.45 million next year. This includes:

  • $5 million — maintenance pavement patching on McCoy Drive to Artesian Road off ILL 59 in Naperville
  • $4.8 million — standard overlay rehabilitation on ILL 38 off Roosevelt Road in Lombard and Glen Ellyn
  • $3.5 million —traffic signal modernization improvements at various locations in Glen Ellyn
  • $3.25 million — construction engineering on ILL 56 off Butterfield Road in Downers Grove
  • $1.85 million — standard overlay rehabilitation on ILL 53 off Columbine Avenue in Lombard and Glen Ellyn
  • $1.5 million — intersection and ADA improvements on US 34 in Naperville
  • $550,000 — construction engineering on ILL 56 off 22nd Street in Lombard and Downers Grove

“When our roads are safer, Illinoisans and their families are safer,” said Ellman. “These funds will create smoother journeys, reduce accidents and most importantly ensure that all residents have the freedom to move, grow and prosper.”
